OMP gives voice to two composers who overcame barriers created by prevailing attitudes of the time toward women: Emilie Mayer, the greatest German female composer of the Romantic period, and Jessie Montgomery, whose “wildly colorful” works have made their mark at a major turning point in history. In between, acclaimed violinist Chee-Yun brings her perspective to Haydn’s Italian-inspired C Major violin concerto.
